Computer Repair - Laptops, MacBooks and Desktops Fixed by Experienced Technicians
A professional computer repair service handles problems that range from a cracked laptop screen to a desktop that will not boot, a MacBook with a swollen battery, or a computer overwhelmed by malware. Unlike phone repair, where the device fits in your palm and the repair takes under an hour, computer repairs often involve larger hardware, more complex diagnostics, and software issues that require patience and deep technical knowledge.
At PC Mobile, our technicians repair laptops from every major manufacturer — Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, and Samsung — alongside Apple MacBooks, iMacs, and custom-built desktop PCs. Whether your computer is running slow, will not turn on, has a cracked screen, or needs a hardware upgrade to keep up with modern demands, we diagnose the problem, explain your options honestly, and fix it right. Every computer repair comes with our 30-day warranty on parts and labor.

Most Common Computer Repairs We Handle
01
Slow Computer Diagnosis and Performance Upgrades
- 20 – 45 minutes
A slow computer is the single most common complaint we hear. The cause is rarely one thing — it is usually a combination of factors: an aging hard drive that should be replaced with a solid-state drive (SSD), insufficient RAM for the way you use your computer today, too many startup programs loading at boot, malware running in the background, or thermal throttling caused by dust-clogged fans and old thermal paste. We diagnose the actual cause of the slowness and recommend the most cost-effective fix. In many cases, an SSD upgrade and RAM expansion together transform an old, sluggish computer into a machine that feels new — for a fraction of the cost of buying a replacement.
02
Laptop Screen Replacement
- 20 – 45 minutes
Cracked or damaged laptop screens are the second most common repair we handle. Laptop displays range from basic 15.6-inch HD panels on budget laptops to high-resolution IPS and OLED displays on premium machines and Apple Retina displays on MacBooks. Each type requires the correct replacement panel matched to your specific laptop model. We source screens for all major brands — Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, and Apple — and most laptop screen replacements are completed within one to two hours.
03
Virus and Malware Removal
- Same day assessmen
If your computer shows unexpected pop-ups, runs dramatically slower than usual, redirects your web browser to strange websites, or displays warnings from software you did not install, it may be infected with a virus, spyware, adware, or ransomware. Our virus removal process includes a full system scan using professional-grade tools, identification and removal of all malicious software, cleanup of registry entries and startup modifications, and verification that the infection is fully cleared. We then help you set up basic protection to reduce the chance of reinfection.
04
Data Recovery
- 30 – 60 minutes
A hard drive failure, accidental deletion, or corrupted file system can make years of photos, documents, and important files seem permanently lost. In many cases, we can recover data from failed hard drives, damaged SSDs, and corrupted storage devices. Data recovery success depends on the type and severity of the failure — we will give you an honest assessment of what is recoverable before starting any work. This is one of the highest-stakes services we offer, and we treat every case with the seriousness it deserves.
05
Battery Replacement
- 45 – 75 minutes
Laptop batteries degrade over time. After two to four years of daily use, most laptop batteries hold significantly less charge than when new. If your laptop dies within an hour of unplugging, shuts down unexpectedly, or the battery appears swollen (pushing the trackpad or bottom panel outward), it needs replacement. We replace batteries on Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, and MacBook laptops. A swollen battery is a safety issue — bring it in promptly.
06
Keyboard Repair and Replacement
- 60 – 90 minutes
Spilled coffee, stuck keys, unresponsive keys, and broken key caps are everyday laptop problems. On most Windows laptops, the keyboard can be replaced as a complete unit. On MacBooks, keyboard repair depends on the generation — older butterfly keyboards (2016–2019 MacBook Pro) are notorious for key failures, while newer scissor-switch Magic Keyboards are more reliable but still replaceable when damaged. We handle keyboards on all laptop brands.
07
Overheating and Fan Repair
- Under 60 minutes
A laptop that runs hot, shuts down during heavy use, or has a fan that sounds like a jet engine is likely suffering from clogged air vents, failed thermal paste, or a dying fan motor. Overheating causes long-term damage to the CPU and GPU if left unaddressed. Our thermal service includes full internal cleaning, thermal paste replacement, fan inspection and replacement if needed, and airflow testing. This service extends the life of your laptop by years.
08
SSD and RAM Upgrades
- Same day assessment
Upgrading a traditional spinning hard drive to a solid-state drive (SSD) is the single most impactful performance improvement you can make to an older computer. Boot times drop from minutes to seconds. Apps open faster. File transfers speed up dramatically. Adding RAM (memory) allows your computer to handle more open programs without slowing down. We perform SSD upgrades and RAM expansions on laptops, desktops, and compatible MacBooks, including cloning your existing drive so you do not lose any data or settings.
09
Windows and macOS Software Repair
- Same day assessment
Blue screen errors, boot loops, failed Windows updates, corrupted macOS installations, and frozen operating systems are all problems we diagnose and resolve. We repair Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS software issues without unnecessary factory resets — preserving your data and settings whenever possible. When a clean installation is truly needed, we perform a full backup first.

- Why Quality Matters
Premium Quality Parts — Why It Matters for Your Phone
We believe every device deserves a second life. The parts inside your repair determine how long that repair actually lasts. A cheap screen might look fine for a week, then start showing yellow tint or losing touch accuracy. A low-quality battery might hold a charge for three months, then start swelling. We only use parts that meet or exceed original manufacturer specifications — and we back every repair with our 30-day warranty.
🔬
OEM-Grade Display Assemblies
We use screens that meet or exceed original manufacturer specifications — accurate color reproduction, correct brightness levels and full touch sensitivity from edge to edge.
🔋
Safe, High-Capacity Batteries
Our batteries are tested for stable voltage output, correct capacity ratings and thermal safety. We will never install a cell that could swell or overheat in your device.

Our Computer Repair Process —
From Walk-In to Pickup
Getting your phone fixed should not be complicated. Here is exactly what happens when you bring your device to us.
How long does computer repair take?
It depends on the repair. Simple fixes like SSD upgrades, RAM expansion, and virus removal are often completed same day. Laptop screen replacements typically take one to two hours. More complex work like data recovery, logic board repair, or ordering specific parts may take one to three business days. We give you an estimated timeline before starting any work.
Is it worth repairing my old laptop or should I buy a new one?
In many cases, repair is significantly cheaper than replacement. An SSD upgrade and RAM expansion on a three-to-five-year-old laptop can make it feel new for a fraction of the cost of buying a replacement. However, if the motherboard has failed, the repair cost exceeds half the price of a comparable new laptop, or the device no longer receives operating system updates, buying new may be the better choice. We will give you an honest recommendation.
Can you recover data from a dead hard drive?
In many cases, yes. Data recovery success depends on the type of failure — logical failures (corrupted file systems, accidental deletion) have high recovery rates. Mechanical failures (clicking sounds, motor failure) are more challenging and sometimes require specialized tools. We assess the drive and give you an honest probability of recovery before starting work.
Do you repair MacBooks and Windows laptops?
Yes. We repair both Apple MacBooks (Air, Pro, iMac) and Windows laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Samsung, MSI, and all other major manufacturers. Our technicians are experienced with both macOS and Windows operating systems.
Can you upgrade my laptop to make it faster?
In most cases, yes. Replacing a traditional hard drive with an SSD and adding RAM are the two most effective upgrades for improving speed. Not all laptops support upgrades — some ultra-thin models have soldered RAM or storage that cannot be replaced. We check your specific model and tell you what upgrades are possible before proceeding.
Do you remove viruses and malware?
Yes. We remove viruses, spyware, adware, ransomware, and other malicious software using professional-grade scanning and removal tools. We then clean up any system modifications the malware made and help you set up basic protection against future infections.
My laptop is overheating — can you fix that?
Yes. Laptop overheating is usually caused by clogged air vents, dried thermal paste, or a failing fan. Our thermal service includes full internal cleaning, thermal paste replacement, fan inspection and replacement if needed, and airflow testing. This service often extends a laptop’s usable life by years.
Do I need an appointment for computer repair?
No. Walk-ins are always welcome during business hours. You can also call us at (703) 594-9339 or fill out our online quote form for a free estimate before your visit.
